The Fort Lauderdale Hollywood international airport launches its on-site COVID-19 testing for airline passengers Wednesday morning.
Starting at 7 a.m., airline passengers can either receive a PCR test or rapid antigen test. Appointments are necessary, but walk-ins will be welcomed when appointments are not scheduled. Those wanting a test will need to show proof of airline travel to qualify for a test. The rapid antigen test results are expected to come back in about 30 minutes. PCR results before 4 p.m. will be returned the next day, and within 48 hours for tests at 4 p.m.
Tests cost $99 for a PCR test and $69 for a rapid antigen test. To schedule an appointment, head to the airport’s COVID19 website.
Some other area hospitals are planning to launch similar testing sites. Tampa International is the only other in the state with a site already in place. Palm Beach International is looking to launch testing by February. Orlando International is working on plans for something similar; a spokesperson says the airport is still figuring out exact details. Miami International does not plan to launch a COVID19 testing site.
