A Palm Beach County Commissioner is calling on Gov. Ron DeSantis to declare a state of emergency throughout Florida due to the decrease in available ICU beds caused by the new spike in COVID-19 cases.
Commissioner Melissa McKinlay of District 6 tweeted the following statements over the weekend:
McKinlay spoke with WPBF 25 News on Monday, saying, “The only person who controls the situation right now is the governor of the state of Florida,” said McKinlay. “And it’s within his power to make that call and I feel when you’ve got patients who can’t access the healthcare that they need to save their lives because all of our ICU’s are filled up, he needs to take action and he’s the only person who can do that.”
