“We are committed to providing an unflinching encounter with the facts and evidence of African American history and culture,” the College Board said in a statement released Monday regarding the change in its AP African American Course.
You may remember earlier this year, Governor Ron Desantis’ office sent a letter to the college board regarding the black history courses saying:
“As presented, the content of this course is inexplicably contrary to Florida law and significantly lacks educational value, in the future, should College Board be willing to come back to the table with lawful, historically accurate content, (the education department) will always be willing to reopen the discussion”
The statement released Monday by the College Board says:
“The development committee and experts charged with authoring the Advanced Placement course will determine the details of those changes over the next few months.”
So we’ll just have to wait and see what will become of this…stay tuned!
