Ciara opened up about the special meaning behind her newborn son’s name. She and husband Russell Wilson welcomed little Win Harrison Wilson on July 23.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the “1, 2 Step” artist became emotional when explaining how the two decided on the special moniker. As it turns out, Win can thank his father for coming up with the perfect name.
“That is Daddy. I give credit to Dad. Oh my gosh, I’m gonna get emotional,” Ciara, 34, gushed. “The hormones, I will tell every pregnant mom, they’re real, OK? They don’t stop. Even when you have the baby, and you’re just fresh out, it happens”
The Grammy winner powered through her swelling emotions as she detailed the origin of Win’s name.
“There was a lot of love and thought put into it,” she explained. “Russ, we would talk about names, and Russ kind of always had this name Win in the rotation, years ago, before we knew we were having a girl. He had all the good names and Win won. So Win is the name and he’s so cute, he’s so precious.”
As for the middle name of Harrison, Ciara pointed out, “Harrison, it was his dad’s first name, which is really sweet and precious.”
She and Wilson share a three-year-old daughter named Sienna. She’s also mom to six-year-old Future Zahir Wilburn with ex Future.
Now that she’s running a family of five, Ciara says she is “feeling really good” settling into motherhood for a third time and that she’s “doing amazing.”
“I’m having the best days,” she exclaimed. “God has been good.”
She also offered words of encouragement to parents stressed by the COVID-19 pandemic, saying, “Listen, I’m gonna tell all my mommas out there, you’ve got this” because “God made us uniquely strong.”
