It’s finally happening! Following intense speculation from fans, Brandy and Monica, who collaborated on the 1998 hit single “The Boy Is Mine,” will digitally reunite for a sure to be epic Verzuz battle next week.

“Get ready for the queens! @Brandy and @MonicaDenise on #VERZUZ!,” the official Verzuz Instagram page touted on Saturday, confirming that the battle will commence Monday, August 31 at Tyler Perry Studios starting at 8 p.m. ET.

The Verzuz page cranked up the excitement by unveiling the official poster, which depicts a black and white split image of Brandy and Monica’s confident faces.

Of course, the two Grammy Award winners took to their respective accounts to further hype their followers.  

Brandy, who just recently dropped her new album B7, called the upcoming battle “history” and further excited fans by exclaiming, “Thank you @monicadenise @applemusic and @verzuztv for making this happen. Let’s celebrate!!!!”  

As for Monica, who is currently putting the finishing touches alongside PJ Morton on her new album Chapter 38, agreed that her showdown with Brandy will be “historical” and added “It’s an honor.”

She then reached out to fans in a separate post asking how she can turn the Verzuz battle up a notch, “What songs would you all like to see us bring to @verzuztv !!”

“Celebrating these catalogs is for the culture with love! From Young Women to Adult Women we’ve been with y’all!,” she encouraged further. “Name the songs you love.”

The showdown starts next Monday, August 31 at 8 p.m. ET on Instagram Live and Apple Music.
