Last night during national elections, two African-American women won mayoral races in major U.S. cities.
Cherrelle Parker was elected mayor of the city of Philadelphia, the first black woman to hold the post.
Parker joins six other black women, London Breed (San Francisco), Karen Bass (Los Angeles) Muriel Bowser (Washington D.C.) Vi Lyles (Charlotte), Tishaura JonesĀ (St. Louis) Latoya Cantrell (New Orleans)
Another African American woman, Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee, will participate in a two-person runoff in the city of Houston, Texas.
Good Luck to them both!
