Eleven student-athletes at the University of Florida have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to university officials.
The 11 positive athletes are from various sports, officials say.
“We will have positive tests, and with guidance from UF Health, we feel we are well positioned to manage those cases,” says Senior Associate Athletics Director Steve McClain.
About one month ago, the university began allowing student-athletes back on campus for voluntary workouts. In late May, the university announced 80 students tested negative, while seven results were still pending.
